Join hands with us to patron our Artists-In-Residence, gearing towards their first ever Kamatipura Art Festival!!
A Day of Celebration, Creativity, and Community
Our vibrant open workshop brought together 25 participants, including 8 enthusiastic newcomers and 2 children.. The day began with a powerful energy release activity, where each participant screamed in their own unique way, followed by a playful introduction circle—newcomers were joyfully welcomed with the chant “(Name) hamari saathi hai” and warm applause. This spirit of inclusion set the tone for the rest of the day.
Festival of Expressions
Participants were invited to reimagine a morning during a festive celebration in their village, forming four groups based on different festivals—Eid, Diwali, Durga Puja, and Ganesh Chaturthi. Each group decorated a member as the embodiment of the festival and presented vibrant performances including dance, songs, and symbolic rituals. A spontaneous moment saw Munni lifted for a Ganesha visarjan enactment, while another group became the sea—a deeply playful and moving expression. Reflection afterwards revealed how the activity brought back childhood memories and fostered a sense of interfaith harmony and joy.
In the outdoor Rangoli session, colors and emotions were explored through music-led movement and art, sparking meaningful dialogue on collaboration, ownership, and letting go.
Storytelling, Imagination & Saathi Connections
Post-lunch, participants gathered for a touching storytelling session led by Anil, centered around a magical tree that gifts a lonely woman a “jaadui dabba.” Each participant then received their own dabba to illustrate with favorite memories, wishes, or symbols of companionship. Though we couldn’t fit in a formal closure, everyone presented their work with pride, and Saathi kits were distributed. Many participants expressed a wish for a longer workshop—an encouraging sign of engagement and emotional investment. We closed with an introduction to our Humsafar program and shared instructions for the next day, grateful for a day that felt like a true celebration of connection, creativity, and community care.
