Our Mela was a huge success! See for yourself!
A Rehearsal turns into our first public performance
As we started to prepare for our very first performance out-of-town, at Ahmedabad, and our Kala Mela performances, it was time to revisit our Theatre production Rasta- with our mentor Jaya Di. We spent three days of rehearsals at The Public Place , Mumbai- where we were allowed to rehearse free of charge!
We would like to extend our gratitude to Abhishek, for his hospitality and generosity.
It was also the very first time the space had opened to such a theatre workshop, so we were invited to showcase our last rehearsal as a performance for an invited few.
It was serendipity that one of out TOTO Facilitators Sanket was doing a workshop for 25 community workers in Theatre of the Oppressed closeby, and he walked all of them inot our performance, as audience and 'spectactors' on their very first day of TOTO training!
There was a lot of dialogue, and change of perspectives about sex workers, and many interesting forums where there was activism, humour and simple humanity in dialogues that ensued.
Our saathis had a collective reflection with the fellows, and all of the 25 members and Sanket turned up for our Kala Mela in December as volunteers!
