Join hands with us to patron our Artists-In-Residence, gearing towards their first ever Kamatipura Art Festival!!
This is our third running year, and many participants were interested in bringing their friends into our community.
So, we developed a bimonthly Saathi Workshop, where in we invite completely new members into the Haan Hum Family.
We wanted them to feel comfortable with our work, and values, hence, we have out Sakhis (women who have completed 3 Saathi workshops or more), to accompany the new Saathis, to enable the workshop as participants and co-facilitators.
In our very first Saathi workshop, we began exploring Nature and childhood, in the form of games and nick naming ourselves.
We then proceeed to create image work (Theatre of the Oppressed) of childhood scenes and imagery.
The participants later created the same imagery on paper, and created beautiful artworks to showcase their childhood.
Our Sakhi Sujatha, had been practicing a lot of sketching and coloring at her home, using her own resources, as she was very interested to learn art. We had asked her to bring her artworks for everyone to see, and we did a mini-exhibition that showcased her work. Sujatha was incredibly moved and proud of representing her beautiful artworks as an artist.
We parted with lunch, and with stationery kits for drawing at home. The participants have already used their kits and shared a lot of their artworks, some of them shown here.
Our intention was to explore nature as it connects to their childhood, something very light- and also meaningful to the Sakhis, who will travel with us the next day to visit Mangroves for a deeper workshop. We also intended to begin recording their childhood stories, so this was a good start to Saathis and Sakhis to become children again.
